Would love to review books

I have been visiting blogs throughout the blogsphere and reading wonderful reviews of books that have been supplied by publishers and authors. I would love to start reviewing books but do not know how to get started or who to contact. If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would love it if you would leave me a note of how I can get started or who I need to contact.

Have a blessed day!

I'm Ready to Finish a Wonderful Book...but it's hard to say goodbye.

I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but here in Northeast Indiana it's beginning to look alike like winter. It snow flurried most of the day yesterday and today I don't believe the temperature rose above 41 degrees. I love this time of year but my body isn't ready for it yet. I have been cold for two days straight...just can't seem to warm up.

I am getting ready to curl up under my afghan and finish the last few pages of a wonderful book. If you've read a previous post of mine you will know that I am a fan of Sarah Sundin. I have about 25 pages left to read in A Memory Between Us and I hate to say goodbye to Jack & Ruth. I guess what makes me the saddest is Ms. Sundin's third book in the series won't be out until next fall. :(

If you haven't tried either of her books please pick up a copy of A Distant Melody & A Memory Between Us. You won't be disappointed.

Kindle, Nook or Sony E-Reader

I'm perplexed. I really, really want to get an e-reader. Don't get me wrong I still plan on buying and reading a book with paper and ink on pages...I love the smell of a new book, don't you. I love the smell of a library too. But I would really like to be able to add to my libray by owning an e-reader. But which won should I put on my Christmas wish list?

If you have an e-reader can you share with me which one you have and if you love it or don't love it? Can anyone give me some advice as to which one is the best? I can use all the input I can get. Thank you in advance for your help!

The Anonymous Bride

I am an avid reader. I love reading Chritian Fiction the most. Especially Christian Romantic Suspense and Christian Historicals. I am currently near the end of a very good book, The Anonymous Bride, by Vickie McDonough. An absolute wonderful read I must say. It boils down to lies told, secrets kept and forgiveness given. This is the first book I have read by Ms. McDonough but I must say it definitely will NOT be the last. She has mastered her characters and dialects of the time period. If I were to grade it I would have to give it five stars!

It Feels Like Autumn...but...

Wow! The weather the last couple of days, here in Northeast Indiana, has been wonderful. High 70's with a crisp breeze in the evenings. Too bad it's going to climb back into the 90's by the weekend. My poor old body has a hard time adapting to abrupt weather changes. I tend towards sinus infections every time the seasons change.

How do you contend with severe weather changes? Does your body adapt well or do you tend to have trouble adapting?

May you have a wonderful blessed day!

Thank you for stopping by. :)

Books by Sarah Sundin

I love books! I have a passion for the written word. I absolutely cringe when I see someone mistreat a book. My family knows that if they look at or read one of my books they MUST handle it with care. I know some of you might think that's a little strange, but I treat my books as the precious child of each author. I take care of them.

Once in awhile I come across a book that pulls me in and won't let me go. I think about it long after I've read the last sentence. "A Distant Melody", by Sarah Sundin is a book like that. I fell in love with the book from the moment i read the first page & found myself in Riverside, California...my hometown.
Ms. Sundin's characters come alive on the page. Her settings are well researched...she had me walking the streets of my old hometown as if I were right there. Her knowledge of a B-17 showed that she believes in doing thorough research.
Her newest book, "A Memory Between Us", is due to come out next month and I can hardly wait to purchase a copy.
If you haven't picked up a copy of "A Distant Melody" run to your local book store and pick up a copy today. You won't be sorry!

Children are smarter then you think!

We had two young children come to church today. We have a very small church so we don't have young children very often. I was their Sunday school teacher and I was blown away. The little girl is seven years old and her little brother is five. I read them the story of Noah and the Ark, then while they were coloring pictures of Noah and the animals, I asked them questions of what I had read to them and they both fed me back the story. I was quite impressed, especially since neither child have really attended Sunday School.

The rest of today I am going to just "veg". I'm tired. Couldn't sleep much last night. I lay there in bed most of the night creating a city in my mind. Why? Because my characters are badgering me to put their stories down on paper and they need a town to run around in. :) I'm getting closer to committing them...some of them need committed!

Well, I hope and pray you have a wonderful day today! Remember too that God loves you!

Smiles & Blessings to you all!

Good television shows or lack there of....

Is it just me or has the television world switched to a majority of REALITY shows??? The only reality shows I choose to watch are American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. In my mind the rest is just wasted footage. Blah...in most cases...trashy.

I was just visiting at Petticoats & Pistols blog and they were talking about old westerns and the stars. It brought back wonderful memories of some wonderful shows. Great memories.

These days Tuesday night is the best night on television. NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles. The characters on NCIS are so well defined that no one could replace them. Gibbs is awesome and Ducky... oh my gosh I use to watch him as Illya Kuriakis on Man from U.N.C.L.E. years ago. That was a good show for it's time as well.

Long gone are the game shows of old. They did bring back the Newlywed Game and it's nothing but trash. I can't believe they allow some of the stuff on the air. Thank goodness for Howie on Deal or No Deal...at least it's clean fun (although some of the model dresses could show less cleavage...after all it is a family show).

Well, I'm sure there are people out there in the blogosphere that totally disagree with me and that is absolutely fine because we have the right to our own oppinions and this blog is simply put my own opinion.

Smiles & Blessings to you all.

American Idol Finale

Okay, I have to admit it, I'm an Idol junkie. Unfortunately I just haven't gotten into it so much this year...I do watch it every week...I just haven't voted....until last week. I voted for Casey and Lee. I'm sorry...in my opinion the guys are more marketable then Crystal, albeit the girl has talent. They're all winners!

So tonight, it's the finale. The question is who is going to take it? Everyone in my little corner of the world is saying that Crystal will take it hands down. My thoughts are it's going to be Lee. Why you ask? Well, he's got the adorablility factor going on...he's a younger version of Harry Connick Jr. and Casey left last week. What am I saying? I think that the Casey fans may have jumped onto the Lee Fan-Wagon...I'm hoping anyway.

All said, as I said earlier, they are all winners in my book.

I must say tonight is sad for me though....I am and always have been a big Simon fan. I will truly miss him and Idol will suffer a large void next year without him. I'm anxious to tune into The X Factor. Does anyone out there know when it is due to air???

Blessings to you all....Lee is about to sing with Chicago...AWESOME!!!!

Wintery Winds

I can't believe the weather his year. Here it is the middle of Spring, Summer is just around the corner and Mother Nature decides to give us another Wintery blast today. The wind blew all night long and has continued to blow throughout the day. Last night we decided to grab a bite to eat before doing our weekly grocery shopping only to get caught in a down pour. Needless to say the shopping was postponed until today. We've only had a few sprinkles today but that wind will bite right through your bones. We had to dig out our winter coats.

I'm literally exhausted today. But then that is the normal for me anymore. I had some tests ran last week. I've been suffering with Bradycardia (slow heartbeat) for a couple of months. The doctor thought it might be my thyroid but those tests came back normal. Now I'm waiting for my Hollter monitor results. That's a forma of EKG machine that you wear for 24 hours. I'm trusting our Lord that I am healed. By His stripes I am healed. Amen!

Hope you are all staying warm enjoying the day weather it is cold or warm.

What kind of weather do you all prefer? Me, I love the fall crispness and Spring coolness but I HATE the wind!!

On the road to recovery for Mom

Well, Mom started physical therapy today and she did quite well. She actually was able to raise her arm up high enough to scratch her forehead. What we take for granted in this life... Think of being unable to use your dominant hand for six weeks...Wow! I admire my mom so much for being able to go through this at the age of 82 years young.

Rainy Day Sunday!

I love the rain. Especially when I can stay at home and delve into a good book or browse the web. It does make me a little sleepy now and then. In fact, as I was sitting here blogging I found myself dozing off once or twice. Maybe I should consider walking down the hall, climbing into bed and taking a nap. Ahhhhhh! Sounds good. I just might have to give it a try. It's been awhile since I curled up and took a nap in the afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a happy day, whether rain or shine, make it a happy one. With God all things are possible...even having a happy day in the midst of a bad circumstance.

Smiles & Blessings to you all. :)

Barking Dog driving the nerves to a frazzle

My dog just doesn't understand that when Mommy and Daddy come home in the evening it's quiet time. Our little guy barks at least every twenty minutes just to let us know that he is around. Guess spending all day sleeping at Grandma's house gets him wired for the evening. One, two, three ....deep breath. Four, five, six....okay maybe I should let him outside to cool his little paws down. I love him lots but sometimes I think having a fenced in yard would be a blessing...he could run and bark to his little hearts content.

The Christmas Spirit

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Christmas Spirit lived on 24/7, 365 days a year? Think about it...how do you feel during the Christmas season? Most people, I believe, are extremely happy and have an extra little kick in their step. They treat people nicer and smile a whole lot more. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone could feel and act that way year round? Last night my husband and I were doing our weekly shopping in our local Wal-Mart and as we were walking past the check out aisles I saw a middle aged woman checking out and she was wearing a Santa Claus hat. A Santa Claus hat on January 22th! Kudos to her! I imagine she was probably wearing it because she was cold and had no other hat but who knows...maybe she was just trying to bring a smile to someones day.

Do you ever do something totally out of the normal to draw attention to yourself or try to make someone smile? I usually try not to draw attention to myself but I'm not always successful.

I am going to go on a hunt for the Christmas Spirit. If you are reading this blog, please leave a post letting me know what your definition of the Christmas Spirit is.

Have a blessed day!

God is so awesome!

When I left California, to move back here to Indiana, I left the best hairstylist I have ever had. We got along great and we made each other laugh. He was a musician and surfer as well. My niece dated him for awhile and I had hopes for them.... but no. Anyway, I have talked about him alot in the last couple of weeks (even to my hairstylist today) and said I was really sad that I had lost touch with him. Well, today I went into my email and had a note from Facebook telling me that he was wanting to add me as a friend. WooHoo! God is so good. I was happy to hear that he is married now. He's a really good guy! My niece really missed the boat on that one.
Also got my laptop where the WiFi works in the house....AWESOME!! My husband Dean and I can both be on the internet at the same time. How cool is that???
Whatever you want to make of today...make it. The day is yours. You can choose to be happy or sad but you choose and you live with it. That's my new motto. No more pity parties for me.
If you are a fan of romance/suspense novels please pick up a book by Colleen Coble. I guarantee you that you won't be disappointed. Her characters and settings are so real that you feel like you are in the story as well. Can hardly wait to get her new book, "The Lightkeepers Daughter".
