Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason

FOR ONE JOURNALIST, THE STORY OF A LIFETIME IS HITTING TOO CLOSE TO HOME.

Sarah Denning is a military journalist with the Army in the Middle East when she is taken hostage. When former Army Ranger Gavin Black is asked by his old unit commander--Sarah's imposing father--to plan an extremely risky rescue, he reluctantly agrees and successfully executes it.

Back in the US, Sarah is livid when she's discharged on a false psychiatric evaluation and vows to return to the Army. Until she learns of her brother's suicide. Unable to believe her brother would do such a thing, she puts her plans on hold and enlists Gavin to help her discover the truth. What they uncover may be the biggest story of Sarah's career--if she can survive long enough to write it.

MY THOUGHTS

Acceptable Risk is the second book in Lynette Eason's series "Danger Never Sleeps". I can honesty say it can be read as a stand-alone book as I haven't had a chance to read the first book in the series, Collateral Damage and I had no difficulty. But, I will say I will be reading the first book soon as this series is going to be one of the best of Ms. Eason's career if the rest of the series is as wonderful as Acceptable Risk .

This book was intense and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat from page one until the last page. It involved several former military personnel committing suicide, experimental medications and threats posed to the leading characters.

I'm am a huge fan of Ms. Eason's books and have never been disappointed. She breathes life into her characters so they appear so real they pull you into their story. That is my kind of book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, clean, suspenseful novel.

On a 5-Star scale = 5 Stars!!!!!

Ready to Trust by Tina Radcliffe

I have to say that Tina Radcliffe's newest book in her "Hearts of Oklahoma" series is a winner! Also, the cover, in my humble opinion is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Just check out the peach trees...okay, I'm kidding, who wouldn't swoon over this gorgeous specimen of a real peach? His name is Reece Rainbolt and he is also swoon-worthy inside this delectable book.

Ready to Trust, is the second book in the series following Finding the Road Home which was the story of Mitch and Daisy who make appearances in this book as well. But don't worry, this book can be read as a stand-alone book.

The story is based in Rebel, Oklahoma and this story centers around Reece Rainboldt and Claire Ballard. Reece manages the family Rebel Ranch and Claire's father owned Ballard farms next door. The story begins with Claire's father passing away and she's come back to Rebel for the reading of the will. She soon finds out that Reece, her former 'fling' has inherited half of her father's farm. Both are dumbfounded when they find out about it. Claire wants to sell the farm to Reece because she has a job as a nurse in another town. Reece learns that Claire has a five-year-old daughter and doing the math, finally figures Zoe is his little girl.

This is a story of redemption, forgiveness, faith and love. It brings in some secondary characters like Willard and Nan that I just fell in love with. Sometimes the wisdom of older folk should be listened to and taken to heart.

Zoe won me over from the very first appearance. But I must say when she tells her mommy that she wants a daddy like Mr. Reece and then asks her how they can do that. She stole my heart.

Ms. Radcliffe wrote a remarkable story with well-created believable characters who made me want to jump in the car to find Rebel Ranch. I loved this book!

If you like contemporary romantic fiction you will love this book. I guarantee it!

On a 5-Star scale = 5 Stars!!!!!

Don't Keep Silent by Elizabeth Goddard

Elizabeth Goddard has once again presented her readers with a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat, heart-pounding suspense-filled romantic adventure that will take your breath away. In her newest book, Don't Keep Silent, I found myself so engrossed with the story that my pulse was racing as if I was standing in the midst of the story with Rae Burke and Liam McKade, the main characters of this story. This is the third book in Ms. Goddard's "Uncommon Justice" series.

Rae, by trade, is an investigative reporter, currently working freelance. She learns her sister-in-law and best friend Zoey has disappeared. When her brother asks for her to investigate she can't say 'no'. She heads to Wyoming where Zoey's mother lives in the hopes of finding Zoey or clues to her whereabouts. She also hopes to find Liam McKade, a former DEA undercover agent who in her past almost lost his life saving hers. From the moment they encounter each other sparks fly and so do the emotions.

Filled with mystery, suspense, intrigue and romance, Ms.Goddard has woven this story together in balanced harmony. I also like the way she brings God into the story in a non-overpowering way.

If you like fast-paced, heart-pounding romantic suspense, this is the perfect book for you. I would highly recommend it.

On a 5-Star scale - Most definitely a 5!!!!!

The Traitor's Pawn by Lisa Harris

I am such a big fan of books with the name Lisa Harris on the front. Her newest book The Traitor's Pawn grabbed me from the very first line which read, "WATCH YOUR BACK...this isn't over". Ms. Harris has a way of drawing her readers into the story quickly and holds them there until the very last sentence.

The Traitor's Pawn is not just another FBI suspense novel. It's a book that measures the strengths of both main characters. FBI agent Jack Shannon and Detective Aubrey Grayson had been best friends during their youth but they haven't seen each other in years. They are brought back together when a Senator is shot and Aubrey is kidnapped...all within the first chapter. Talk about fast-paced. This book will pull you in, set your heart to pounding and will deliver you to a satisfying conclusion.

Ms. Harris is very good at creating believable characters and you will either love them or hate them. As they pull you into their story, you will fill like you are right there with them on their journey to win against the bad guys.

If you love suspense novels you will love this one. It is packed with twists and turns and you won't want to put it down. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fast-paced suspense with a little romance thrown it.

On a 5-star scale - 5 Stars!!!!!

The Land Beneath Us by Sarah Sundin

The Land Beneath Us is the third book in the Sunrise at Normandy series by Sarah Sundin. While the first two books in the series are excellent, I loved this one the best. The series is about three brothers who are serving in the Air Force, Navy and Army all during the time of the invasion of Normandy during WWII. In this last book of the series, the reader meets the parents of the three brothers and that is what makes this book the best because you get to see why the boys are the way they are.

Sarah Sundin is one of my favorite authors and definitely my favorite author of military romance novels. She can put you in the cockpit of a B17, on the deck of a ship at sea and in a crater at Pointe du Hoc. She can make you feel your surroundings and breathe the air that the characters are feeling and breathing. Her characters are as real as they get.

I loved this entire series and would highly recommend that you pick all three books up and read them in sequence. They can be read as stand-alone books but you might feel a little lost at times. The first book is The Sea Before Us (Wyatt's story), the second is The Sky Above Us (Adler's story) and this last book is Clay's story. I guarantee you will love each book and all three brothers.

On a 5-Star scale - 5 HUGE Stars!!!!!

Finding the Road Home by Tina Radcliffe

Finding the Road Home is the first book in Tina Radcliffe's "Hearts of Oklahoma" series and it is small-town reading at its finest! The story is set in rural Rebel, Oklahoma where the town is small enough that everyone knows you and your business.

Imagine a young woman becomes an instant mother to her five nieces and nephews when they lose their parents. Then she moves them to a new town where she buys a fixer-upper house and takes on the job as a deputy in Rural. With that said, what I took away from this book was love, hope, and dreams being fulfilled.

I love stories that take place in small-town America where your neighbors love you and help you through the hard times. You will find a lot of that in this book. Friends helping friends, neighbors helping neighbors. This is a great feel-good story.

Finding the Road Home is a March release for Love Inspired books and I would highly recommend picking up a copy. Ms. Radcliffe is great at creating believable characters with all their quirks and nuances. I guarantee you will fall in love with several, if not all of the people in Rural.

On a 5-star scale - 5 HUGE Stars!!!!!
