The Confident Woman Journal by Joyce Meyer

 I love a good journal and Joyce Meyer's new journal, The Confident Woman Journal is proving to be a great one for me. 

This journal was created to be a companion to go along with Ms. Meyer's book, The Confident Woman Journal, however, you do not need the book in order to utilize this beautiful journal.

Within the pages of this journal are quotes that according to the copyright page, came from Ms. Meyer's book, Your Battles Belong to the Lord.

As you can see by the picture to the left, the cover is white and it is from what I would consider simulated leather. It truly is a beautiful journal.

Break Out! 5 Ways to Go Beyond Your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life - by Joel Osteen

When I pick up a book written by Pastor Joel Osteen, I always know what I am going to get.  The book is always uplifting, encouraging and inspiring.  When I finish the book I am really revved up and ready to fight the enemy and live my life to its fullest according to God's plans.

Some of the stories within this book sounded a little familiar and I am sure I have heard them or read them before, but this is not a bad thing.  In fact, as I hear or read some of the stories that he shares the principle is built up more within me.

Pastor Osteen is Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houstan, Texas. He is a powerful speaker and motivator and his books are only an extension of who he is. When reading any of his books, I feel like he is sitting across the room from me simply talking to me. His writing is simple to understand and if the reader is ready to absorb the information Pastor Osteen offers, they will walk away after finishing Break Out! with new excitement about their life in Christ. 

I thoroughly enjoyed Break Out! and have already bought copies as Christmas presents. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to get motivated and encouraged in their walk with Christ.

The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek by Jane Myers Perrine

The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek by Jane Myers Perrine was a delight to read. This book is the third in the Butternut Creek series, the first two books being The Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek and The Matchmakers of Butternut Creek. While they can be read as stand-alone books, I believe I would have had more fun reading Ms. Perrine's newest book if I had read the two previous books and got to know the characters earlier.

I must say that this book is full of characters that have a lot of character. Ms. Perrine has created a town that some might compare to Jane Karon's wonderful town of Mitford. But Butternut Creek has just as much charm as the characters that inhabit the town. Four wonderful matchmaking widows, a young pastor that is the target for their matchmaking early on in the book (and obviously a continuation from the earlier books). When the pastor's sister returns to Butternut Creek the meddling matchmaking widows find new prey for their matchmaking skills.

A wedding does take place but who gets married is a question you will have to find out for yourself as I do not like to give out spoilers. But I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

If you like reading books that are just plain fun and entertaining then Jane Myers Perrine, The Wedding Planners of Butternut Creek is a book you will enjoy!

I Declare - 31 Promises to Speak Over Your Life by Joel Osteen - my review

Okay, there are just some books that grab you from the first sentence and never turn loose of you.  Not even after you have read the last word and softly closed the cover of the book.  I Declare  was just such a book for me.  Yes, this book is non-fiction and yes, it grabbed me and still hasn't let go.  In fact, I have been telling everyone I know about this book and have even bought copies for family and friends because I know that not only is it a great book but the content can be life-changing.  I've already started seeing changes in my own life and it's only been a week.

I Declare is a wonderful book of 31 chapters that are set up to be read one chapter per day.  Each chapter begins with a Declaration and then Joel gives about two and a half pages in which he gives a story/example of how that declaration can and has made a difference in people's lives.  I have to admit, I read the book in two days but I'm now planning (once my husband finishes reading it) to read one chapter per day.  I fully believe that if a person reads this book and starts making the positive declarations over their lives daily, their lives will change for the better.

My husband is a pastor who speaks often about watching the words that spew out of our mouths.  Joyce Meyer also has written books on the words that come out of our mouths and how we need to be aware of what we say.  Well, I have listened to my dear husband and Joyce Meyer and while I fully agree with them both, the concept has never caught hold of me and woke me up like Joel Osteen's book I Declare.

I thought about including the first chapter of I Declare but I know I wouldn't want to stop there.  So what I will give you instead is this simple statement.  "Buy this book!"  I guarantee you that you will not be sorry.  It is that good. I can't 'dog-ear' pages of a book (that makes me cringe), but I have sticky notes and flags throughout my copy of this book.
