I am a big fan of Elizabeth Goddard's work and could hardly wait for her newest book, Present Danger, to come out. It is the first book in her new "Rocky Mountain Courage" series. It is an extremely fast paced story that will pull you in and keep you breathless until the very last page.
Ms. Goddard has created a cast of well developed characters that seem to spring to life right off the page. They pull you into their story and take you on a fast paced journey throughout all 363 pages. The main characters are US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors and former FBI Special Agent Jack Tanner who is now working as a detective for the Grayback County Sheriff's Department. Probably the biggest character is the setting. The story takes place in the beautiful state of Montana and Ms. Goddard describes it where you can totally imagine the scene.
The story starts out with a plane crash and a murder. This brings the two main characters together to work the case which could pose some issues since they have a past romantic history together. During the course of their investigation more murders occur and they have attempts made on theirs lives.
The story is filled with suspense and is action packed, but it is also filled with forgiveness for several characters. There is a mystery woven into the story around Native American artifacts which in the end reveals a 'mystery' character from one of the lead characters past.
One thing I liked was that Ms. Goddard brought a couple of characters (Liam McKade and Rae Burke) back for a brief moment from her previous book, Don't Keep Silent which is part of her "Uncommon Justice" series. Jack had a small part in that book as well.
If you like fast paced action suspense novels that are clean and have a faith thread you must pick up a copy of Present Danger. I promise you will not be disappointed.
